In November of 1991, Reef Relief worked with Executive Director Katy Thacker and the Negril Coral Reef Preservation Society (NCRPS), to install 35 reef mooring buoys at the coral reefs of Negril, Jamaica. In subsequent years, Reef Relief returned to train local preservationists to patrol their reefs through creation of the Reef Ranger Program, implemented a buoy maintenance program, installed a swimmer's lane, supported the Junior Ranger school program and creation of a water quality program, and helped create the Negril Marine Park, managed by NCRPS.
